Service · Branding and strategy

Nobody hires you because of your logo.

They do decide whether you look like a real company before they have read a word. Branding is the work of making that first glance land in your favor. Strategy is deciding where you spend to get the glance in the first place.

Identity · Messaging · Brand guides · Marketing plans

What you get

A brand guide is a spec sheet.

Your logo is the part people notice. The guide is the part that stops it drifting.

Hex values for every color. The fonts, named, with a note on what each one is for. Rules for how the logo sits on a photograph and how much room it needs around it. All of it written down, so the sign painter, the truck wrapper and whoever builds your next website end up in the same place without having to ask you first.

Skip it and year three looks nothing like year one. Four shades of the same blue, a logo somebody stretched to fit a door, and a customer who cannot tell your truck from the one parked behind it.

The value is that it exists somewhere other than in your head, so the answer to how the logo goes on a truck door is not a phone call to you on a Saturday.

Scope

What branding actually covers.

Identity

The logo, the color palette, the type. The parts that end up on a truck door, a shirt, a yard sign and a phone screen, and have to hold up at all four sizes.

Messaging and positioning

What you do, who you are saying it to, and why somebody should pick you over the outfit quoting forty dollars less. Settled once, so you stop improvising it on every call.

Brand guides

The rules, documented. Colors, fonts, spacing, logo use. Handed over as files you own and can give to anybody.

Application

The identity put to work on the website, the ads, the print and the vehicles, so the thing we designed survives contact with the real world.

Most businesses do not need all four at once. We will tell you which one is holding you back.

Who this is for.

Service businesses in the trades, mostly. Pest control, roofing, plumbing and HVAC, painting, pool maintenance. Companies doing real work with an identity that was assembled in a hurry years ago and never looked at again.

It is also for the business about to start spending on advertising. Branding first is cheaper than branding second, because everything you print, build and pay to put in front of people in the meantime has to be made again.

If what you want is a logo for a business card and nothing else, we are not the cheapest way to get one, and we would rather say that now.

Hand-drawn sheet of nine logo concepts for an HVAC company, including fire and snowflake marks, mountain and stream badges, and three monogram options, beside a notebook listing brand ideas

Before anything gets chosen there is a sheet like this one. Fire, snowflake, mountains, streams, monograms. Most of it gets thrown away, and that is what the early stage is for.

Strategy is mostly deciding what not to do.

Anybody can write you a list of things to try. The useful part is knowing which ones to stop paying for.

So we start with what is already happening. Where your leads come from today, what the competitors in your area are doing that you are not, and who is actually buying. That last one surprises people. The customer you built the business around is often not the one paying most of the bills.

Out of that comes a plan with a short list in it. Which channels get money, in what order, and what each one is supposed to produce. Then we run it and check the numbers against what we said would happen. If a channel is not earning its place, we tell you, and it comes out.

A plan nobody goes back and checks is a wish list with a budget attached.

Branding on its own will not fill a schedule.

What it does is make everything else cheaper to run. An ad with a clear offer behind it costs less per lead. A website built on a settled identity does not need rebuilding in eighteen months. It works best paired with a site and one advertising channel, because that is where it starts paying for itself.

Whatever combination you land on, the reporting comes into Momentum Bridge, our CRM and reporting platform, so you are reading one place instead of three.
